About the Plan

The Bastrop County Local Food Action Plan was developed by the Bastrop County Local Food Action Partnership, a project initiated by the Texas Center for Local Food, and released in April 2024.

The goal of the plan is to strengthen the capacity and resilience of the local food system in Bastrop County.

The plan aims to facilitate actions that will address six priority Areas of Concern faced by Bastrop County’s food system (pictured at right).

List of 6 priority Areas of Concern: Not enough food is grown, loss of farmland, income too low to meet basic needs, increasing disruptions in food supply chain, migrant and other farmworkers lack protections, natural disasters and extreme weather

Action Plan Projects

The plan identifies 14 initial projects designed to effect change in the areas of concern identified above (see table at right).
